Slipping in the Western sky
Sunny rays begin to die
Solid lines of dark set in
The nightly process does begin


Twinkling objects start to glow
Popping out in a row
The moon so bright is cut in half
The man inside begins to laugh


The night is cold, dim and deep
The time is lost in wordless sleep
Beyond the stars that shine so bright
Across the sky in moonlight


The world is gone to those who dream
Their mind is drifting to another scene
For some in fear to rest is yearned
The hardness in the days have burned


So nature’s course does have it
The beam of sunshine breaks it
The cold dim darkness disappears
And takes away the nightly fears
