January skies

Just on the rise

Are often quite grey

For me anyway

They are dark and oppressing

They are heavy and foreboding

They are not very clear

They often bring fear

But on the first

Of this year

I looked up at 5

Ever so blue then

They were alive

I saw so much beauty

I felt so much grace

Looking from here

My hometown base

It dawned on me here

And all of a sudden

The first of the year

All hope was forthcoming

The sky and it’s glory

To where we all look

Not knowing the story

We read in a book

Where heaven abides

Or so we are told

But weather aside

In love there’s no cold

To warm our own hearts

And to sooth your own souls

January skies will depart

But not heaven’s goal

For there it remains

And will always be

An address by name

Heaven’s in me!
